Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies traded mixed on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, with the two largest digital assets recovering as investors assessed U.S. midterm election results, institutional fund flows and the outlook for interest rates.
Bitcoin gained 1.27 percent over the previous 24 hours to trade at $78,389, while Ethereum advanced 1.44 percent to $2,320.70, according to the supplied market data. XRP, Solana and several other major cryptocurrencies remained lower.
The recovery followed an initially weaker reaction to Democratic victories in the U.S. midterm elections. Reuters reported that the results raised questions about the timing of further crypto-friendly legislation and deregulation, although digital assets later recovered alongside equities.
Reuters valued the broader cryptocurrency market at around $2.61 trillion earlier on Wednesday as investors balanced political developments against institutional demand, borrowing costs and wider risk sentiment.
Bitcoin regains ground
Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, traded at $78,389, up 1.27 percent over 24 hours.
Its market capitalization stood at approximately $1.57 trillion, with 24-hour trading volume of $28.57 billion. Bitcoin was still 3.37 percent lower over seven days, showing that Wednesday’s advance had not fully reversed the weakness recorded during the previous week.
Bitcoin represented roughly 60 percent of the overall cryptocurrency market based on the supplied capitalization figure and Reuters’ broader market estimate.
Institutional flows remained an important part of the picture.
U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded net outflows of $115.6 million on November 3 after withdrawals of $398.6 million on November 2, according to Farside Investors.
The November 3 total included a $95 million withdrawal from BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust. Other products recorded inflows, including $21.9 million for Fidelity’s fund and $6.8 million for another product tracked by Farside, but they were not enough to offset overall withdrawals.
The data indicate that Bitcoin’s daily price recovery took place despite continued caution in U.S.-listed investment products.
Ethereum moves higher
Ethereum also strengthened, rising 1.44 percent to $2,320.70.
The second-largest cryptocurrency had a market capitalization of approximately $283.65 billion and 24-hour trading volume of $10.43 billion. It remained 1.72 percent lower over seven days.
Ethereum-linked institutional flows were also subdued. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recorded net withdrawals of $139.7 million on November 2. Farside’s November 3 all-data table showed at least $10.9 million of additional net outflows, although figures for some products were not yet populated in that table.
Among other large cryptocurrencies, BNB rose 0.27 percent to $700.70, with a market capitalization of approximately $92.55 billion.
XRP slipped 0.32 percent to $1.2826, valuing the cryptocurrency at approximately $80.98 billion, while daily trading volume stood at $2.30 billion.
Solana declined 0.40 percent to $92.901 and remained 8.72 percent lower over seven days. Its market capitalization stood at $55.08 billion, with $2.70 billion changing hands over 24 hours.
Altcoins stay mixed
The broader altcoin market showed little sign of a uniform recovery.
Dogecoin fell 0.37 percent to $0.074864 and remained 5.77 percent lower over seven days, while Cardano eased 0.38 percent to $0.1900, extending its weekly decline to 7.13 percent.
TRON dropped 1.09 percent to $0.319320, Chainlink lost 0.95 percent to $11.149 and Stellar declined 1.93 percent to $0.16292.
Bitcoin Cash fell 0.94 percent to $274.01, while Litecoin edged 0.12 percent lower to $54.73.
Other cryptocurrencies performed considerably better. Avalanche advanced 0.73 percent to $8.68, while Zcash jumped 7.82 percent to $1,290.68, making it one of the strongest performers among the assets in the supplied market data.
Monero gained 2.84 percent to $643.150 and NEAR Protocol climbed 3.25 percent to $4.0172.
Polkadot increased 1.28 percent to $0.954 and Aave advanced 1.41 percent to $131.01. Uniswap slipped 0.51 percent to $7.3259 but remained 4.03 percent higher over seven days.
Hyperliquid declined 2.14 percent to $84.3490 despite maintaining a weekly gain of 5.80 percent.
The divergence underscores how cryptocurrency trading remains increasingly differentiated, with individual tokens responding differently to liquidity, positioning and sector-specific developments.
U.S. policy watched
Political developments in Washington remained another source of uncertainty following the November 3 midterm elections.
Reuters reported that Democratic victories initially pressured cryptocurrency prices as traders reassessed the prospects for further digital-asset deregulation and legislation. Bitcoin subsequently recovered as broader risk assets stabilized.
Monetary policy is also influencing sentiment.
The Federal Reserve held the federal funds rate target range at 3.75 percent to 4 percent on October 28, saying economic activity was expanding at a strong pace while inflation remained elevated.
Two Federal Open Market Committee members dissented in favor of a quarter-point rate increase, highlighting continued debate over how restrictive monetary policy should remain.
Interest rates matter for cryptocurrency markets because higher yields can make traditional interest-bearing assets relatively more attractive, while expectations of easier financial conditions can support investor appetite for risk assets.
Stablecoins remain active
Stablecoins continued to account for a substantial share of cryptocurrency trading.
Tether’s USDT traded at $0.9990, with a market capitalization of approximately $178.10 billion and 24-hour trading volume of $57.29 billion.
USDC changed hands near $1.0011, with its market capitalization reaching $70.61 billion and daily trading volume at $12.51 billion.
DAI remained close to its dollar peg at $0.99970, while Ethena USDe traded at approximately $1.
