Cryptocurrency markets traded mixed on Monday, with Bitcoin holding below $78,000 as investors assessed U.S. monetary policy, institutional fund flows and the approaching midterm elections. Ethereum posted modest gains, while several major altcoins traded lower as market participants evaluated the outlook for digital assets.

Bitcoin traded around $77,544.82, down approximately 0.39 percent over 24 hours and 3.3 percent over seven days. Its market capitalization stood at approximately $1.56 trillion, with 24-hour trading volume around $17.36 billion.

The broader cryptocurrency market was valued at approximately $2.68 trillion, with Bitcoin dominance at 58.3 percent and Ethereum accounting for 10.4 percent. Total cryptocurrency trading volume reached around $50.2 billion over 24 hours.

Ethereum outperforms Bitcoin

Ethereum traded around $2,280, gaining approximately 0.6 percent over 24 hours. Its market capitalization stood near $278.6 billion, while daily trading volume reached approximately $8.68 billion. Ethereum was down around 2.1 percent over seven days.

BNB traded near $703.08, declining approximately 1.4 percent over 24 hours and 5.2 percent over the week. Its market capitalization stood at approximately $92.46 billion.

XRP traded around $1.25, down 0.4 percent on the day and 3.4 percent over seven days, with its market value near $79.14 billion.

Solana declined approximately 1.4 percent to $93.81, bringing its seven-day performance to a decline of around 7.5 percent. Its market capitalization stood near $55.37 billion, while daily trading volume approached $1.98 billion.

The divergence highlighted selective investor interest across major digital assets, with Ethereum gaining ground while several large-cap cryptocurrencies experienced more subdued trading conditions.

Altcoin performance remains mixed

Price movements across other major cryptocurrencies were similarly divided, reflecting different levels of investor demand.

TRON gained approximately 2 percent to $0.3167, although it remained more than 4 percent lower over seven days. Its market capitalization stood near $30.09 billion.

Zcash traded around $1,247.69, posting a modest daily gain, while Hyperliquid declined approximately 2.8 percent to $85.30 despite remaining 10.5 percent higher over the week.

Dogecoin traded near $0.07505, while Bitcoin Cash stood around $277.13 after declining approximately 2.2 percent over 24 hours.

Uniswap remained broadly stable near $7.21 and maintained a positive weekly performance, while Polkadot continued to experience selling pressure.

Cardano declined approximately 1.6 percent to $0.1902, Chainlink fell around 3.8 percent to $11.29 and Avalanche traded near $8.59 after dropping more than 2 percent.

Litecoin stood around $54.76, while Monero was among the stronger performers, trading near $609.64 and maintaining gains over the preceding seven days.

The contrasting movements suggested investors were continuing to differentiate between individual cryptocurrencies rather than taking a uniform approach to the broader market.

Institutional flows remain key

Institutional cryptocurrency investment activity remained another important market indicator.

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded approximately $643 million in net outflows on Friday, according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, more than $1.3 billion in leveraged cryptocurrency positions were liquidated during the recent period of market volatility.

These developments placed additional attention on institutional demand, exchange-traded fund activity and overall market liquidity.

Investors are also monitoring developments in cryptocurrency custody infrastructure and exchange security, particularly as institutional participation expands across digital asset markets.

Fed policy in focus

Beyond cryptocurrency-specific developments, investors continued evaluating the outlook for U.S. interest rates and economic growth.

The Federal Reserve maintained its benchmark federal funds target range at 3.75 percent to 4 percent on October 28 in a 10-2 vote.

Governor Lisa Cook and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack preferred a 25-basis-point increase, while the central bank noted that economic activity remained strong and inflation was still elevated.

The dollar index declined approximately 0.3 percent to 101.63 on Monday as financial markets prepared for the November 3 U.S. midterm elections.

Upcoming employment figures and international central bank decisions will provide additional economic signals for investors assessing interest rates, financial conditions and the outlook for cryptocurrency investment.
